Published in Hardcover by Henry Holt & Company, Inc. (April, 1999)
Author: C. Scott Littleton
Average review score:

Great Textbook!
Lavishly illustrated and clearly written, this book is extremely accissble to readers from high school onward. The layout is conducive to use of the book as a textbook for a course with text box discussions that lend themselves well to use by students in discussion groups.

Electrician's Exam Preparation
Published in Paperback by Delmar Learning (19 April, 1999)
Authors: Michael Holt and Charles Michael Holt
Average review score:

Electricians- you can pass your licensing exam!
Mike Holt's Electricians's Exam Prep book is the guide that I have used for the intensive week-end Electrician's Exam Prep classes that I teach. I have found that this book covers all of the essentials that you need to study to pass your National Electrical Code (NEC) test. This book starts with a review of the math and theory essential to passing an exam, and then subsequently does a great job of covering the things that are difficult to study, such as code tables and calculations including services and motor circuits. Mike includes lots of explanatory diagrams and examples.

Another great feature in the 1999 edition is that Mike has included all of the answers in the back of the book, often including explanations or showing the work to reach that answer. In previous editions, that answer key was a separate $22 purchase.

This book would be of benefit to anyone studying for their National Electrical code licensing exam, whether at the Journeyman, Master, Inspector, or Electrical contractor level. (Check your state or city exam guidelines to determine if your exam will also cover local and state laws, business laws, etc.)

The Elvis Atlas: A Journey Through Elvis Presley's America (Henry Holt Reference Book)
Published in Hardcover by Henry Holt & Company, Inc. (September, 1996)
Authors: Michael Gray and Roger Osborne
Average review score:

Excellent book for diehard fans
This book is excellent if you are eager to seek out places Elvis frequented throughout his life. Not simply Sun Records or other well-known locations; rather, the non-traditional hangouts. I have brought the book to Memphis and used it as a guide to visiting some out-of-the-way places. Elvis was a lot more than Graceland and Sun. If you are interested in other locations which assisted in his formative years, take this book to Memphis and look up some of the addresses listed. You'll gain a better appreciation for the King.

The Encyclopedia of the Victorian World: A Reader's Companion to the People, Places, Events, and Everyday Life of the Victorian Era (Henry Holt Reference Book)
Published in Hardcover by Henry Holt & Company, Inc. (April, 1996)
Authors: Melinda Corey and George Ochoa
Average review score:

Who's Was Who in Victorian England
This wonderful book contains alphabetical and bibliographical entries for topics associated with Victorian England. WHile it truly does cover the broadest of ranges for various topics like Charles Dickens, Disraeli, and Peterloo, it omits various "secondary" figures like Forster and other less literary but nonetheless notable characters of the time. Over all, it is a great browsing book full of interesting data for the general reader. If it does not cover all it could have done then it does at least offer a wide number of bibliographical entries for additional reading.

The Enduring Hills
Published in Hardcover by University Press of Kentucky (October, 1988)
Author: Janice Holt Giles
Average review score:

A Wonderful Book about the Things that Matter
Janice Holt Giles is one of my favorite authors, and her first novel is excellent. Anyone who has ever read "Miss Willie" or "Tara's Healing" will love learning how it all started with Hod and Mary. Her descriptions of the Kentucky mountains and the lifestyle there are concise. I especially enjoy reading about Hod's thoughts and the moral dilemmas he faces as he grows older. This book contains several interesting points for us all to ponder, and the plot moves along nicely. I highly recommend it, as well as any other books by Janice Holt Giles!

Exiled: The Story of John Lathrop 1584-1653
Published in Hardcover by Word Publishing (01 November, 1987)
Author: Helene Holt
Average review score:

A descendant of John Lathrop
Hi all, I don't know how much relevance you can put on this review as I am a direct descendant of The Reverend John Lathrop so my opinion is obviously biased. Having said that I found the book very informative as to the history of this man. It also inspired a new interest in me for the Puritan movement and the early settlers of this country. I know that anyone interested in this reknowned family will not be disappointed in this well researched book. Wood Lathrop
